When we make affirmations, we are strongly declaring something to be true. We often verbalise these truths and say them aloud to give them more weight. By making these short, powerful statements, we are exercising control over our thoughts which can, in turn, help to shape our reality.
When we think of affirmations, we often think of them as a process to reach our specific goals. Perhaps you are creating a balanced life, chasing the promotion, training for that marathon or seeking meaningful relationships. Making positive affirmations daily can help to turn these goals into a reality by sending a very clear message to your brain about what is important to you, when your awareness is focused on a certain area of your life you can expect this area to thrive and you’ll be smashing targets left, right and centre.
That said, affirmations aren’t just for goal-reaching. Affirmations of gratitude are just as important and can help to maintain a positive mind-set and an optimistic outlook on life. When we become complacent with all that we have and all that we are, things can become a little bleak and we dwell on the negatives, but by making daily affirmations of gratitude you can train your mind to switch its focus to all the good that you have in your life. Maintaining perspective is key to having healthy and happy thoughts and when life is going at 100 miles an hour, a simple affirmation of what and who you are can really go a long way in creating a calm, peaceful and grateful mind.

Different affirmations will be appropriate for each stage of your life and you may feel you need a different one week by week if your life is changing rapidly, and that’s okay. Chose an affirmation which resonates with you and say it out loud daily to help to manifest your intentions, purify your thoughts or simply remind yourself that you are enough.
